Aizawl: Zoram People's Movement leader TBC Lalvenchhunga shot down talk of internal power struggles on June 22. The Adviser to the Chief Minister told a crowd in Aizawl that the ruling party is stronger than the regimes it replaced. Critics keep looking for cracks. They will not find them.
Lalvenchhunga dismissed the rumors as fabrications by outsiders hoping to see the party fail. He admitted that members sometimes disagree, but insisted this is healthy for democracy rather than a sign of a split. "Divergent opinions do exist, which is entirely normal, but allegations claiming an internal rift within the ZPM are completely false," he said.
The controversy stems from recent shifts in the state cabinet. Chief Minister Lalduhoma recently took the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department away from Home Minister K. Sapdanga. This follows earlier moves where Sapdanga lost the Disaster Management and Rehabilitation portfolio. Opposition leader Lalchhandama Ralte cited these changes as proof of a breaking party.
Lalvenchhunga countered that the party operates as a collective unit. He warned workers against personal ambition and demanded they focus on the needs of Mizoram. He claimed that leaked Political Affairs Committee meetings have been twisted to manufacture drama. The leadership remains focused on reform and maintaining ethical standards in government.
