Zeliang Youth Organisation Demands Probe Into Pimla Shooting

Kohima: The Zeliang Youth Organisation Nagaland (ZYON) is demanding an immediate investigation after an assassination attempt occurred near Pimla on June 5, 2026. President Ngautube R. Chamlak and general secretary Kibouwi Zeliang reported that a Zeliang youth and his companions were pursued by an unidentified maroon Alto car around 2:00 a.m. The attackers fired a gunshot at the victims' vehicle during the chase.

The organization criticized the incident as a severe failure of law and order that compromises the safety of public transit. They emphasized that no group or individual should be permitted to threaten citizens or operate with impunity. Describing the event as a "cold blooded attempt to murder innocent citizens," the ZYON warned that such violence against commuters is unacceptable.

To prevent future attacks, the group is calling for enhanced security measures along the routes connecting Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Jalukie. They have urged members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying and arresting the culprits. The organization maintains that the state must hold these individuals accountable to restore public safety, declaring that "the highway belongs to the public, not to armed criminals and rogue elements."
