Kohima: Wokha Town Council workers cleared pedestrian footpaths on Tuesday. They worked the stretch between Wokha Police Point and PWD Junction. The crew removed encroachments, unclogged drains, and targeted general debris to boost safety for foot traffic. Additional Deputy Commissioner and WTC Executive Officer Renbomo Ezung supervised the job alongside council members, labourers, and machine operators.
WTC chairperson W. Myingthungo Kikon demanded better public cooperation for these civic improvements. He warned locals against dumping trash or blocking pathways. "While the council has been making continuous efforts to maintain cleanliness and order in the town, such initiatives can only be sustained through the active participation of citizens," Kikon said.
Roads in town remain a headache. Potholes plague the NH-2 stretch. Kikon confirmed he discussed these repair needs with the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha and the responsible contractor. The rainy season stalled road fixes. The council expects work to move forward once the weather clears. The WTC promised to keep pushing for a cleaner, safer Wokha.
