Veteran Manipur journalist Guruaribam Naocha Sharma dies at 57

Imphal: Veteran journalist Guruaribam Naocha Sharma died this morning at his home. He was 57. The Imphal Times reporter had been fighting a long illness. He died at 5:30 am.

Sharma served as the General Secretary of the All Manipur Working Journalists Union from 2013 to 2015. He also worked for Sahara TV, NewsX, and ANI before moving to the Imphal Times. The Imphal Times family called his death an "irreparable loss to the organisation and the media fraternity."

Colleagues gathered at the Manipur Press Club in Majorkhul today to honor his memory. Members of the Editors Guild Manipur and the All Manipur Working Journalists Union placed flowers by his photo. They stood in silence for two minutes to mark his passing.

The Royal Riders Manipur also stopped by the club to pay respects. Sharma leaves behind a wife and two children. He lived in Keishamthong Hodam Leirak, Imphal West.
