USTM Backs A·chik Athlete for World Pencak Silat Championship

Shillong: University of Science & Technology Meghalaya Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque pledged financial support to A·chik athlete Rimchi Sangma. She is heading to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to compete in the 2026 World Pencak Silat Championship from December 5 to December 12. This backing aims to offset her training and travel costs.

Hoque met with Sangma, her parents, and her coach at the university campus. A group of A·chik and Khasi students also gathered to offer their support before her departure. The financial aid ensures she can focus on the competition without the stress of mounting expenses.

"Angna media-ni manderang dakchake on·aha aro angni gimin koborrangko u·iatani ja·man, anga bang·a manderangni dakchakanirangko man·na a·bachengaha. Iana anga dingtangmancha media-ko mittelpilna ska," she said.
