Three USTM Scientists Crack Global Top 1000 Ranking

Shillong: Three scientists from the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya landed spots in the 2026 Scholarly Index Ranking. This achievement puts them among the top 1000 scholars on the planet. Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya, served as the backdrop for the October 7 announcement.

Dr. Mohit L. Deb from the Department of Chemistry led the pack with a world rank of 129 and an India rank of 15. His work focuses on indole derivative synthesis. Dr. Yugal Kishore Mohanta of the Department of Applied Biology hit world rank 398 and India rank 45 for his progress in nanoparticles. Dr. Golam Mohiuddin, also from the Department of Chemistry, took world rank 844 and India rank 89 for his liquid crystal research.

The school pushes hard for results. The university stated the rankings demonstrate the "university’s emphasis on strengthening research, innovation and scholarly contributions." These three men represent the rising profile of the Meghalaya institution on the global stage.
