USTM Awards 86 Meghalaya Toppers with Free BAAG Admissions

Shillong: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya honored 86 top performers from the Meghalaya Board of School Education SSLC and HSSLC examinations during a ceremony at the State Convention Centre on Saturday. Students received certificates, mementoes, and cash awards totaling Rs 5 lakh for their academic excellence.

High Court of Meghalaya Chief Justice Revati Mohite Dere, former Education Minister Manas Chaudhuri, and Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem attended the event. Justice Dere encouraged the students to pursue their professional goals with integrity and social responsibility.

During the ceremony, USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque announced that these toppers are eligible for free admission to the four-year Bachelor of Arts in Administration and Governance degree. This program provides specialized training for students aiming to pass the UPSC Civil Services examinations while completing their undergraduate studies.

Padma Shri awardee Manas Chaudhuri reminded students that character is the true driver of leadership and initiative. Reflecting on the importance of proactive behavior, he stated, "The best horse begins galloping the moment its master sits on the saddle, even before the whip is used." He urged the attendees to anticipate their responsibilities rather than waiting for external instructions.
