UNLF Denies Links to Extortion Suspect Arrested in Manipur

Imphal: The United National Liberation Front, led by Koireng, officially distanced itself from Konsam Sanatomba. Police arrested the 44-year-old Lamlong resident at Telepati on August 9, 2026. Authorities claim he extorted money from non-Manipuri people under threat. He has no ties to the outfit or its armed wing, the Manipur People’s Army.

Publicity Secretary M. Sak Hen addressed the arrest following a social media post published by the Manipur Police. The militant group issued a stern warning regarding the misuse of their name. "Strict action would be taken against anyone found using the name of the outfit or its armed wing, the MPA, to carry out extortion or other illegal activities," Hen said. The group demands an end to impersonation.
