Two Die in Assam High-Speed Cattle Theft Crash

Guwahati: A high-speed crash killed two suspected cattle thieves early Saturday morning in Khowang, Assam. The luxury vehicle slammed into a road divider near Naga Kitchen Dhaba at 3 am. The wreck left the car destroyed. Biki Chetia, of Barua Changmai village, was driving. He died at the scene alongside Arman Ahmed, a resident of Chaulkhowa.

Police say the men were transporting four cattle allegedly stolen from Dimow Bengali village. The impact killed a pregnant cow and two calves instantly. A single bull calf survived the wreck. Rescuers pulled Ritu Ali from the twisted metal in critical condition. Medics referred him to a facility in Dibrugarh for emergency care.

Investigators initially faced conflicting reports about where the animals originated. One occupant claimed the crew snatched them from the Tiniali Bypass area. Police later confirmed the theft occurred at Dimow Bengali village. Officials are currently sorting through the facts of the case. A police spokesperson noted: "Police are investigating the alleged cattle theft and the circumstances leading to the accident."
