Two Brothers Arrested for Club Secretary Murder in Tripura

Agartala: Police arrested Swapan Sutradhar and Mithun Sutradhar on Tuesday for the brutal killing of Samir Das. Das, the secretary of the Tarun Sangha Club, was hacked to death early Tuesday morning in the Kathaltali area of West Tripura.

The attack sparked immediate outrage. Neighbors swarmed the brothers' homes to retaliate against the duo. Investigators now suspect a long-standing personal grudge fueled the violence, though the motive remains unclear.

West Tripura Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak confirmed the arrests. "Two persons have been accused in this case. We have arrested both of them. We are investigating the incident and collecting evidence," Pathak told reporters.

Senior officers and reinforcements from the Central Reserve Police Force and Tripura State Rifles rushed to the scene. The heavy police presence prevented further unrest. Authorities claim order returned to the area by Tuesday afternoon.
