Guwahati: Charlene Mahalia and Prachita Duara left Guwahati on Monday. The two pharmacy students from Girijananda Chowdhury University took off from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. They are headed to Russia. The pair will join a 30-member Indian delegation for the IV Congress of the International Russophile Movement. The event runs from September 16 to 17, 2026, in Moscow.
The movement gathers scientists, public figures, and cultural experts from across the globe. These attendees aim to preserve Russian heritage and promote international dialogue. The congress focuses on historical memory and moral traditions. It serves as a public platform for people-to-people relations. Organizers state the gathering is meant to be a space for "strengthening international public dialogue and people-to-people contacts based on mutual respect and a deeper understanding of history and culture."
Mahalia and Duara represent Assam on the world stage. Their university officials noted the trip shows the growing global reach of their students. The event pushes for cooperation in science and education. It also promotes patriotic values among the youth. Girijananda Chowdhury University sent the duo off with high hopes for their performance in Moscow.
