Kohima: Tseminyu officials gathered on July 31 to launch the Mera Resham Mera Abhimaan 2.0 campaign. This national initiative, run by the Central Silk Board under the Ministry of Textiles, aims to modernize silk production. The meeting took place at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall.
Dr. Kaiho Kaisa, Scientist-B at the Central Muga Eri Research and Training Institute, organized the event alongside Vilhousienuo Khro, the District Sericulture Officer for Nagaland. Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch attended the session. He stressed the need for teamwork, stating, “highlighted the importance of interdepartmental coordination and active stakeholder participation in strengthening the sericulture sector in the district.”
The consultation drew a wide crowd. Progressive farmers, entrepreneurs, self-help groups, youth, and women attended. They dissected the technical framework of the campaign. Dr. Kaisa detailed how science can lift local production, improve silk quality, and boost farmer income. Discussion points included resource needs, project timelines, and strategies for regional coordination.
Participants aired their field-level problems and pitched solutions. These insights will now shape the District Sericulture Development Plan. The team plans to use these findings to finalize an immediate action plan for Tseminyu.
