Agartala: Starting May 16, 2026, the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) will implement a series of austerity measures designed to lower government expenditure in response to increasing fuel and energy costs. The new policy mandates that employees physically report to the office only on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. For the remainder of the work week, specifically Thursday through Saturday, excluding the second and fourth Saturdays, staff members will operate under a work from home arrangement.

This initiative follows a recent appeal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who encouraged institutions to conserve fuel and adopt flexible working models where possible. To ensure operational continuity, employees working remotely are required to remain reachable via telephone and electronic communication for any urgent official tasks. The council has also specified that staff must obtain prior authorization before leaving their assigned stations.

In addition to the shift in working structure, the TTAADC is prioritizing environmental sustainability by transitioning to the use of electric vehicles for official transportation needs. These new regulations will remain in effect until further notice, although they explicitly exclude personnel and offices involved in essential or emergency services.
