Agartala: Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced on Friday that all offices belonging to the eight Zila Sabhadhipatis in the state will be transitioned to solar energy by the end of this month. This initiative follows the successful installation of solar infrastructure across all eight District Magistrate offices as part of a broader governmental drive to promote clean energy within administrative institutions.

The decision was finalized during the 29th governing body meeting of the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency held at the Geetanjali Guest House in Agartala. The session, which included participation from the Power Secretary, TREDA officials, and the Zila Sabhadhipatis, served as a platform to review current progress and outline future strategic plans for sustainable development.

Highlighting the state's recent achievements, Minister Nath noted that Tripura currently leads the nation in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme. To date, 5,000 of the targeted 10,000 installations have been completed, effectively supporting irrigation for over 4,000 kani of agricultural land. Furthermore, the state is utilizing the Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE) program to deploy solar microgrids in remote locations that lack conventional electricity access.
