Agartala: Tripura Police busted a major narcotics shipment yesterday. Officers seized 271 kg of dry cannabis worth Rs 15 lakh. Two suspects are in custody following a frantic chase across Dhalai and Unakoti districts.

Trouble started in Kamalpur. Officers pulled over a suspicious vehicle near Durga Chowmuhani. The men inside lied about their identities. They tried to act like local leaders. Police didn't buy the story. The suspects fought back and bolted.

Police radioed every checkpoint in the area. A team set up a blockade at the Demdum Naka Point in Fatikroy. When the vehicle hit the barrier, the driver tried to smash through the barricade. Security teams stopped them cold.

Officers searched the vehicle and found 167 packets of drugs. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Utpalendu Debnath said, "Police have launched a detailed investigation to identify the source and destination of the contraband and to trace the larger network involved in the illegal drug trade."

Investigators are now working to map out the supply chain. They want the kingpins behind this haul.
