Agartala: The Tripura government is taking significant steps to grow its digital and creative economy by drafting a new policy for the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality sectors. The Directorate of Information Technology hosted a stakeholder consultation in Agartala to gather input from industry experts, academics, and government officials.
IT Secretary Kiran Gitte emphasized the progress Tripura has made in digital infrastructure and technology adoption. During the event, Director of Information Technology Jeya Ragul Geshan B. presented a vision for building a local ecosystem that prioritizes talent development, job creation, and entrepreneurship. The draft framework seeks to align state resources with the needs of students and creators.
Technical experts from the National Institute of Design and the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute provided insights on the shifting media landscape. Additionally, founders from the gaming and technology sectors shared practical advice on business growth and market opportunities. These discussions are intended to refine the policy, ensuring it remains effective for local youth and innovators.
The government plans to use the feedback from these sessions to create a robust environment for innovation. By focusing on skill building and startup support, officials hope to establish Tripura as a key player in the rapidly expanding digital media industry.
