Agartala: The Tipra Motha party has formally requested that Tripura Director General of Police Anurag take decisive action to restore law and order in the Takarjala Assembly Constituency. Represented by delegations led by MLA Biswajit Kalai and District Council member Suraj Debbarma, the party submitted a memorandum highlighting a surge in violence linked to the TTAADC General Election 2026. The document details a series of disturbing events, including bomb blasts, gunfire, and assaults, which have reportedly fostered an atmosphere of fear among local residents.

Specific allegations center on an April 10 incident near the home of local BJP leader Nirmal Debbarma. Tipra Motha officials claim that party workers were attacked with firearms and sharp weapons while police were present, leading to injuries that included the Superintendent of Police for the Sepahijala district. The party expressed frustration that, despite available evidence and the high-profile nature of the victims, those responsible remain at large. Further reports indicate that on May 9, four bomb blasts targeted the residences of Tipra Motha workers in Jampuijala and Takarjala, alongside a separate incident involving a Youth Tipra Federation member who was fired upon.

In their petition, the party leadership accused the local police administration of selective enforcement and political bias, suggesting that investigations into attacks against Tipra Motha supporters have been neglected. Concerns were also raised regarding the alleged sheltering of suspects at the Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in Agartala. To mitigate the ongoing unrest, Tipra Motha has urged the police force to increase nighttime patrolling, establish strategic check posts, and form a special team to ensure thorough investigations and the impartial administration of justice in the region.
