Agartala: A local court handed three suspects over to police on Wednesday for a five-day remand. They face murder charges linked to the death of Sameer Das. The Amtali Police station is running the probe.
Das attended a gathering at Pintu Chakraborty’s home on June 22. He got into a fight with Swapan Sutradhar and Mithun Sutradhar during the night. Das headed home on his scooter shortly after midnight. He never made it inside. Four men ambushed him near Swapan Sutradhar’s house at 1:35 am.
Government counsel Dilip Debnath described the brutal nature of the killing. "The allegation is that the accused persons attacked Sameer Das on his chest, neck and head with sharp weapons," he said. Two witnesses, Gautam Das and Dikvijay Dey, saw the group flee the scene.
Police have arrested Swapan Sutradhar, Mithun Sutradhar, and Sujoy Sutradhar. They appeared before Judicial Magistrate Liza Debbarma to face the remand order. The hunt continues for a fourth man named Raju Sutradhar.
Investigators still need the murder weapons. The current remand allows police to track down the missing blade and the final suspect. The clock is ticking. The detention runs until June 29.
