Shillong: The Meghalaya Anti-Narcotics Task Force arrested three men from Assam on June 15 for alleged drug trafficking. Officers conducted a operation in Tikrikilla, West Garo Hills, where they intercepted the suspects and seized 53 grams of suspected heroin hidden inside five plastic soap boxes.
Superintendent of Police Vikash Kumar stated the action was taken "based on credible intelligence input." During the search, police also confiscated two motorbikes and three mobile phones from the scene.
The suspects were identified as 35-year-old Sahidul Hussain, 35-year-old Saddam Hussain, and 23-year-old Rashidul Hoque, all hailing from the Goalpara district of Assam. They are currently facing charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Tikrikilla Police Station.
Authorities suspect the men belong to an organized crime group involved in inter-state drug smuggling. The task force is now tracing potential connections linked to the suspects. Police have requested public assistance in the ongoing investigation, promising to keep all informant identities confidential while offering rewards for tips leading to further arrests.
