Third Arrest Made in Dimapur Minor Sexual Abuse Case

Kohima: Authorities have arrested a third suspect in connection with the ongoing investigation into the sexual abuse of a minor. The individual was taken into custody on June 6, according to reports, though police have not provided an official confirmation regarding the latest detainee.

The legal proceedings began after a formal complaint was filed on May 25, following the disclosure of the case on May 23. Investigators have registered the case under several sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The first suspect, Watimeren Jamir, also known as O Wati Jamir, surrendered to police on May 27 after his request for anticipatory bail was revoked. Shortly after, officers apprehended a second suspect, Tsuktimongba, in Dimapur on May 31. Reports indicate that the two men are cousins.

The victim, who is in her teens, was allegedly subjected to abuse over an extended period. Since the incident was brought to light, she has been placed under the care of the Child Welfare Committee. The Morung Express reported that the case is active, noting that "the victim, in her teens, was allegedly sexually abused over an extended period of time."
