Tenyimi Union Nagaland Demands Justice for Manipur Killings

Kohima: The Tenyimi Union Nagaland (TUN) wrapped up its first annual general session in Kohima on June 23 by setting a hard line on regional violence. Members adopted four key resolutions targeting security, legal accountability, and cultural preservation. They officially backed the Nagaland Tribal Hobos Coordination Committee in its push for Naga unity.

The group slammed the recent murder of six Nagas in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district. They labeled the attackers as heartless Kuki militants. The Union wants the Manipur and Indian governments to hunt down the killers fast. They warned that failure to act carries risks. As the resolution stated, "Delay in delivering justice may invite serious repercussion."

Crimes against women and children are climbing. The TUN blamed local law enforcement for sluggish investigations that empower predators. They want swift, final verdicts in all sexual abuse cases. The assembly also pledged to boost the Tenyidie language in schools and universities, standing behind the work of the Ura Academy.

The session also installed a new leadership team for the 2026 to 2029 term. KT Vilie steps in as president. Khriehuzo Lohe takes over as general secretary. Dr. Fr. Solomon Vizo led the blessing for the incoming officers. Several state MLAs attended the meeting, which featured folk songs and a formal report on union activities.
