Kohima: The Sumi Community of New Ministers Hill celebrated the Tuluni festival on Wednesday at the residence of Y. Kikheto Sema. The event showcased traditional performances like Athi Sheküsü Le and Aphilo Kuwo. It brought the community together to mark the agricultural harvest.
Kikheto, serving as host and Principal Secretary, noted that Tuluni is a time for thanksgiving and prayer. He told the crowd that the festival centers on gratitude and family bonds. He pushed the younger generation to embrace farming. Nagaland has fertile soil, but he argued the local work ethic needs a major boost.
He warned against complacency during his address. He noted, "our minds have become like barren land." He urged the Sumi people to cultivate unity and act as ambassadors of peace within the state capital.
The celebration wrapped up with a presentation on the cultural significance of the holiday by advisor Toniho Sheqhi. Participants shared meals and goodwill to finish the festivities.
