Kohima: Students at Government Higher Secondary School in Pungro, Kiphire, faced off in a poster competition on July 6, 2026. The goal was simple: teach kids how to survive a heatwave. School staff handed out chart paper and markers to groups of students to kick off the project.
The work focused on life-saving habits. Students illustrated how to stay hydrated and why they should avoid the sun during peak hours between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. They also identified signs of heat stroke. According to DIPR, the participants were "divided into groups and provided with chart papers and art supplies to visually depict safety protocols."
Teachers oversaw the process to ensure the kids understood the risks. The school plans to name the winners once the summer break ends. Everyone involved hopes the visuals make the danger of extreme heat stick.
