Agartala: Government doctors in the state can no longer treat patients outside public hospitals. The Chief Minister confirmed the policy after meeting with various doctors' bodies to finalize the rules.

This move ends years of back-and-forth on the issue. The administration wants doctors focused entirely on public health centers. During the discussions, the Chief Minister noted that the "decision to bar private practice finalized after discussions with Doctors’ bodies."

Public clinics must now be the only priority. Officials expect this to improve patient care across the state. Expect major shifts in hospital operations starting immediately.
