Kohima: St. Joseph's College in Jakhama wrapped up a five-day training push this week. The event focused on teaching faculty how to use artificial intelligence to improve their daily work. The college ran the program from July 3 to 7. It centered on the theme, "AI-Powered Academia: Managerial Skills and Teaching-Learning & Research Strategies."
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell and the Research and Development Cell organized the sessions. They brought in experts from North-Eastern Hill University, St. Aloysius University, and the District Mental Health Programme in Kohima to lead the talks. Staff members learned how to use AI for research, publication, and managing student assessments. They also practiced prompt engineering and discussed how to use new tech without crossing ethical lines.
Mental health took a front seat during the training. Teachers spent time learning how to mentor students through academic changes. Organizers said the program aimed to "equip faculty members with the knowledge and practical skills to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into teaching, research, assessment and academic administration." The event finished with hands-on labs and group discussions to lock in the new skills.
