Speeding Driver Kills Two Teenagers in Dimapur

Kohima: A speeding vehicle plowed through a Dimapur street on Saturday night. The driver hit a motorcycle, a car, and a tempo before running over two pedestrians in Veterinary Colony. Police confirmed the deaths on Sunday, August 30.

The victims were 15-year-old Macagbou Charenamai from Manipur and 17-year-old Gaisinlung Thangmei of Kohima. Both lived in the Burma Camp area. Emergency responders rushed the teens to a hospital. They died from their injuries shortly after arrival.

Officers arrested the driver, Bumei Phom, following the collision. The East Police Station filed a formal case against him. The Dimapur Police PRO stated, "Further investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident is underway." Detectives are now piecing together exactly how the crash unfolded.
