Kohima: Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer visited GPS Aolijen on Wednesday. The school hosted a ceremony to mark its new status. Longkumer stood before the crowd to address the village.
He credited the school’s success to the hard work of land donors, the community, and the village council. He spoke plainly about the future. "The recognition of a new school was possible through the grace of God and the concerted efforts of stakeholders including the Village Council, concerned department, land donors and the community," Longkumer said.
The Speaker issued a direct challenge to local leaders. He demanded they maintain high annual enrollment figures. This keeps the doors open. Without enough students, the state could merge or shut the facility down. He also asked government officials to provide ongoing guidance and support for the staff.
SMC secretary I. Tiajungba chaired the event. Local speakers included DEO Arenla, AEO L. Alemtemsu Ao, and landowner Lanumeren. Students performed a special song to close the morning. Rev. T. Wati Lkr and Rev. Talijungla provided the prayers.
