Silchar Police Intercept Major Liquor Smuggling Ring

Guwahati: Silchar Sadar Police caught a major liquor shipment on Sunday, July 12. Officers intercepted a suspicious vehicle in the Tarapur area during a night raid. The operation relied on specific intelligence regarding the illegal movement of contraband. Inside, they found a massive haul of foreign liquor.

Police took the driver into custody immediately. He is currently held at Silchar Sadar Police Station for questioning. Officials have not yet released his name. The street value of the confiscated goods is several lakh rupees. Authorities confirm the load was destined for Mizoram. The state police are now mapping out the smuggling route. Detectives are working to track down the suppliers and the intended buyers in this network. A spokesperson stated, "An investigation has been launched to identify others who may be involved in the smuggling network."
