Gangtok: The Sikkim Chamber of Commerce has publicly thanked Chief Minister PS Golay for his rapid response to licensing delays affecting traders in Gangtok. The problems centered on the renewal process overseen by the Gangtok Municipal Corporation, which had caused significant concern among the local business community.

Upon hearing these complaints, the Chief Minister instructed relevant authorities to provide an immediate solution. This led to an emergency meeting on June 13, held during a scheduled holiday, to prioritize the concerns of the traders. Following this meeting, the administration launched a three-day special camp at MG Marg to process applications and address grievances directly.

Chamber President Amar Agarwal noted that the current efforts demonstrate a proactive approach to administration. As he stated, the initiative reflects "the government's commitment to resolving public grievances and bringing governance closer to the people."

Traders are currently utilizing the special camp to finalize their documentation with municipal officials. The Chamber also extended its gratitude to Gangtok MLA Delay Namgyal Barfungpa, Mayor Tshering Palden Bhutia, and Deputy Mayor Sara Tamang for their cooperation in streamlining the renewal process.
