Kohima: Asish Limboo of Sikkim grabbed the Champion of Champions 2026 title at the 2nd Mr. Northeast Bodybuilding and Physique Championship. The event went down September 12 at the Capital Cultural Hall in Kohima. Athletes showed up in force. Sixty-nine competitors from across eight northeastern states hit the stage to test their strength.
The Nagaland Bodybuilding and Fitness Association and the Northeast Body Builders Federation organized the show. They ran the event under the guidance of the Indian Body Builders Federation. KMC Ward 19 councillor Medoviu Martin Suohu served as the special guest, while IGP Imnalensa acted as the guest of honour. IBBF president Swamy Ramesh Kumar and NEBBF president Pema WD Bhutia spoke to the crowd during the opening ceremony.
Organizers launched the competition to push physical fitness among local youth. They want to give regional athletes a legitimate path to bigger stages. Event coordinator Dziesevizo Sekhose thanked the attendees after the competition finished. Ruopfuzhano Whiso hosted the event as NEBBF general secretary Thejakhrietuo Kire opened the festivities with a welcome address. The organizers stated, "The championship aim to promote bodybuilding and fitness among the youth and provide a platform for athletes from the Northeast to compete at higher levels."
Manipur dominated several weight classes. Bhaskar Jyoti Das of Assam took gold in the 55kg division. Worthan Lunglo won the 60kg class, Mishap Khapai topped the 65kg group, and Pritam Nahakpam secured the 70kg victory. Limboo added the 75kg bodybuilding gold to his overall title. Jeremy Lallawmzuala from Mizoram won the 80kg and above category. In the physique divisions, Daimailu Brahma of Arunachal Pradesh won Men's Sports Physique. Niamunmara from Arunachal Pradesh took the top spot in Women's Model Physique.
