Kohima: Assam Rifles flagged off a Seema Darshan tour on Friday for 20 students and two teachers from Government Higher Secondary School, Rusoma. The group left Kohima under the Op Sadbhavana project for the 2026-27 financial year. It is a big trip.
Maj Gen Harinder Singh Mavi, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), led the ceremony. He told the group to make the most of the trip by gaining a deeper understanding of India's diversity, border areas, and the role of the Armed Forces. Officials from 6 Sector Assam Rifles and the Kohima Battalion also attended the event to offer their support.
The group will travel across the Northeast. They plan to visit Guwahati, Tenga, Tawang, and Tezpur before returning to Kohima on September 28. Students will also meet the General Officer Commanding of the 5 Mountain Division. This meeting provides students a chance to learn about border security challenges and military operations.
The project aims to expose youth to the nation's cultural heritage and the strategic importance of its frontiers. Officials hope the tour will build stronger ties between the military and local residents. It promotes national unity.
