Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday for becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India's democratic history. During a National Democratic Alliance meeting in New Delhi, Tamang noted that Modi surpassed the previous record of 4,398 days held by the country's first leader, Jawaharlal Nehru.

Tamang credited the achievement to the public's trust in Modi and his dedication to nation-building. He expressed optimism regarding the government's goal to achieve a Viksit Bharat by 2047, affirming his belief that India will successfully transform into a developed nation under the Prime Minister's guidance.

The Chief Minister specifically thanked Modi for his ongoing focus on the Northeast. He credited the Prime Minister with fostering significant progress across the region and noted that referring to the area as Ashta Lakshmi has strengthened its integration into the national growth agenda. Tamang described the initiative as a major elevation of the region's importance.

During the session, the Chief Minister also praised the expansion of the National Democratic Alliance. He observed that the coalition has grown from 25 parties under Atal Bihari Vajpayee to 39 parties today, attributing this success to "principles of trust, mutual respect and collective development." Tamang concluded by sharing his best wishes for the Prime Minister on behalf of the people of Sikkim.
