Seven Missing After Boat Sinks in Brahmaputra River

Guwahati: A boat carrying 11 people went under in the Brahmaputra River on Sunday, September 27. The accident occurred in the Lahorighat area of Assam. Men and women were on board when the vessel sank. Seven people are still missing.

Rescuers pulled four passengers from the water. Those survivors are now in the hospital. Officials describe their current condition as critical. Search operations are moving forward to find the missing individuals.

Local authorities are still working to piece together the events that led to the wreck. Information regarding the identities of the missing passengers remains unknown. As one official noted, "Search and rescue operations are expected to be underway to trace those unaccounted for."
