Senapati Officials Inspect National Highway 02 to Prepare for Monsoon Season

Imphal: Senapati Deputy Commissioner led a joint inspection of National Highway 02 on June 9 to evaluate road conditions before the monsoon season arrives. Officials from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mao, and local project management teams joined the assessment to identify high-risk areas needing immediate intervention.

The administration identified several road segments requiring urgent repairs to prevent traffic delays during heavy rains. To maintain safety, the Deputy Commissioner issued a series of directives to NHIDCL and appointed contractors, including M/s NDS Construction and M/s Exotic Contractors Pvt. Ltd. The required work includes clearing clogged drainage systems to prevent flooding and installing new crash barriers at dangerous points along the route.

The District Administration further instructed the corporation to expedite pending maintenance and finish the tendering process for strengthening projects to ensure a contractor is in place as soon as possible. The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for proactive measures, stating, "The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for proactive and timely action to safeguard commuters and minimize disruptions caused by heavy rainfall." Authorities will continue to monitor the repair progress closely to ensure public safety and consistent traffic flow throughout the rainy months.
