Shillong: South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai is firing back at critics. He insists Christians in Meghalaya face no threat from the BJP. Shullai vowed to advocate for his constituents at the highest possible level. He declared he would go “even to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s bedroom” to raise issues affecting the community.
The cabinet minister dismissed recent fears as baseless. He pointed to his own constituency as proof that the BJP works for everyone. Shullai credited the central government for rolling out vital welfare programs across the region. Rural residents report better access to foodgrains, cooking gas, and drinking water. He also claimed the party ended open defecation in many areas through targeted sanitation initiatives.
The veteran politician addressed the recent jump of eight UDP MLAs to the BJP. He called their move a positive sign for the Khasi-Jaintia and Garo Hills. Shullai brushed off claims that the BJP is a non-tribal outsider party. He compared the current opposition to the early skepticism once directed at the Congress. Public opinion is shifting, he says. People are ignoring propaganda to focus on the reality of development. Shullai told voters they have nothing to fear because he will personally defend their interests.
