Imphal: The Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) has denounced a violent ambush on Rongmei Naga Village Guards near the village of Charoi Pandongba-1. The organization reports that the guards were attacked while performing routine tasks, specifically gathering firewood for their families.

One guard, 57-year-old Chunjanglung Panmei, remains missing following the confrontation. The council is calling on the government to mobilize all available resources to locate him immediately. Officials from the group expressed deep concern over emerging reports that suggest the ambush may have involved collusion, describing the event as a calculated and malicious attack.

In a formal statement regarding the incident, the council declared, "The RNCM views this assault not just as a breach of peace, but as a direct threat to the existence and security of our people." The organization warned that it will resist any attempts to harm Naga citizens, encroach upon ancestral lands, or disturb the region's peace.

The RNCM is now calling on civil society groups and the public to stand in solidarity with the affected families. The council emphasized that the restraint shown by the Naga people should not be interpreted as a lack of resolve against such threats.
