Roadwork forces travel restrictions on Pungro route

Kohima: Travelers face daily road closures on the New Vongti to Moya route. Additional Deputy Commissioner Hotolu Sema ordered the shutdown to push through earth and rock cutting projects. The restrictions hit the road starting July 6 and will continue through July 20.

Drivers cannot pass through the zone between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm, or from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Authorities suggest locals map out their trips ahead of time to avoid being caught in the bottleneck. The state order is clear about keeping routes open for essential needs. It states, "contractors must ensure that medical emergencies and the movement of government officials on official duty are not obstructed during the execution of the road works."
