Kohima: Persistent rainfall destroyed a section of National Highway-702A near Lumami village. The Akuluto Additional Deputy Commissioner issued a travel advisory on July 23 to manage the mess. Restoration crews are currently working on the Zunheboto-Mokokchung road segment. These regulations stay active until further orders.
Heavy commercial traffic, including loaded trucks, pick-ups, and buses, must now use a long detour. Drivers must take the path through Mokokchung, Longsa, Sapotimi, Zheicuto, Khukiho, Kholehoto, Suruhoto, Ichisaghemi, Naltoga, and Ashtikomi to reach Akuluto. The reverse route applies for incoming traffic.
Light passenger vehicles have a shorter fix. Officials instructed these drivers to use the upper approach road passing through Lumami village. This bypass runs from the Centenary Monument to the LSE Kinimi Building, situated approximately 500 metres from the village gate. Authorities will strictly control movement along this route.
The district administration expects full compliance from all travelers. "The district administration appealed to commuters to strictly adhere to the advisory, drive cautiously, follow traffic signage and comply with the instructions of officials deployed at the site."
