Kohima: A landslide near Surhoba Village has paralyzed the Phek-Chozuba stretch of NH 702A. The road is blocked at Km.161+700. Phek Deputy Commissioner Rhosietlho Nguori issued an emergency advisory yesterday banning all vehicular traffic on the route. The closure took effect on July 31, 2026. The road remains shut indefinitely.
Authorities demand total compliance. Motorists must steer clear of the area until the debris is cleared and officials declare the path safe. The government order notes that the restriction stands "until further notice."
Commuters heading between Phek and Chozuba must use a lengthy detour. The state suggests using the Phek-Khuza-Mutsale-Phughi-Sukruzu-Chozuba road as the only viable alternative. Expect travel delays on this route until crews finish the cleanup work.
