Agartala: Airport police in Agartala locked up eight Bangladeshi nationals over the last 24 hours. The men tried to fly out of Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport after sneaking into Tripura. Tips led investigators to the scene. Surveillance teams grabbed the first four suspects on Saturday. One arrest led to another. A follow-up sweep of the airport grounds netted four more men.

All eight suspects are adult males. They lacked legal documents for their stay in India. The first four men already sit in police custody. A local court reviewed the cases of the remaining four on Sunday. Investigators now demand time to grill the group about how they crossed the border. They want to know the destination. "Police sought their custodial interrogation to ascertain the circumstances leading to their entry into India and their subsequent movement."

Detectives are hunting for the people who moved these men across the border. They are looking for local guides and traffickers. The probe aims to break the network moving migrants toward the airport. Officials are checking if this was a solo act or a job for a human smuggling ring. The hunt continues.
