Kohima: Phek officials hosted an awareness workshop for local artisans on August 28. The MSME Development and Facilitation Office and the District Industries Centre organized the event at the DC’s Conference Hall. The program focused on the PM Vishwakarma scheme, which supports 18 traditional trades.
Deputy Commissioner Rhosietho Nguori opened the floor. He spoke about the changing value of currency compared to simpler times. He said, "The purpose of the programme was to enlighten artisans on branding and marketing of products." He identified idea, skill, and marketing as the three pillars of a stable income.
Truvi Rhi from the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Community Development broke down packaging techniques. He displayed bottles, bags, cane, tins, and tubes to show how appearance drives sales. He also covered FSSAI labelling requirements.
The Lead District Manager from SBI Phek handled the financial literacy portion. He outlined eligibility rules and how to apply for loans under the scheme. DIC Functional Manager Atrise Sangtam and local Post Office staff explained export guidelines and QR code generation for artisans looking to ship products. The day ended with a product showcase and technical discussions.
