Peren Officials Launch Rural Development Planning Sessions

Kohima: The Department of Rural Development hosted district-level training in Jalukie on July 8. The event focused on the People's Plan Campaign for the 2026-27 financial year. Officials from 16 line departments attended the session at the Women Hall.

Project Director Rongsenmenla opened the event by stressing the need for teamwork. "The Gram Panchayat Development Plan forms the foundation for inclusive and sustainable rural development," she said. She pushed staff to work with frontline workers to build plans that meet real community needs.

Technical training followed the keynote. Megoselhu Thou of the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan laid out the framework for the development plan. He told attendees that community buy-in remains the top priority. Dzuthovoyi Kapfo from the National Rural Livelihoods Mission then covered the Village Poverty Reduction Plan. She detailed how self-help groups and local organizations drive village-level change.

Representatives from the Social Welfare, Fisheries, and Water Resources departments gave presentations. They explained current policies and how to mix services for better results. The Rural Development Department plans to rely on these collective efforts to finish the final development plans.
