Shillong: The Khalistan Liberation Army (KLA) is emerging as the primary threat to Indian security in Punjab. While agencies monitor groups like the Babbar Khalsa International and Khalistan Zindabad Force, the ISI is shielding the KLA from scrutiny. The group remains in the shadows, but its operatives are battle-ready.
Intelligence reports confirm the KLA is the most organized outfit in the network. For years, the ISI treated it as a proxy to confuse investigators. Attacks were often claimed by other groups to keep the KLA off the radar. An official stated, "The KLA has been a faction group of the KLF."
Pakistan has invested heavily in training KLA fighters. They brought in expert instructors from Lashkar-e-Tayiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad to drill these cadres. The group now maintains deep ties with drug syndicates and criminal networks across the region.
Recent low-intensity blasts in Punjab serve as a distraction. They keep police and central agencies occupied while the ISI waits to launch the KLA in full force. The group is no longer just a support faction. It is poised to take the lead in future operations.
