Northeast Frontier Railway Police Seize Drugs and Rescue Children

Guwahati: Railway Protection Force teams fanned out across the Northeast Frontier Railway on July 7 and 8. They hit hard against crime. Working alongside the Government Railway Police and excise agents, the force seized over 15 kilograms of ganja worth Rs 7.60 lakh. They also pulled 185 bottles of illicit liquor off trains and station platforms.

Officers caught multiple thieves during the sweep. They recovered seven stolen mobile phones valued at Rs 1.04 lakh and turned the suspects over to local police. The force aims to keep the tracks safe. "The sustained operations reflect the Railway Protection Force's continued commitment to ensuring passenger safety, protecting railway property and maintaining a secure travel environment," a spokesperson stated.

Humanitarian work remained a top priority. RPF personnel rescued seven missing children, six boys and one girl, from various stations. They handed the minors over to Child Welfare Committees to prevent exploitation. In a separate medical emergency, guards rushed an ailing elderly passenger to a local clinic. They treated the individual before arranging an ambulance transfer to a hospital for further care.
