North Garo Hills Police Seek Public Help After Newborn Found in River

Shillong: North Garo Hills police are hitting a wall. They still cannot identify the parents of a newborn girl found floating in the Rongdal River near Rangsa village. The grim discovery happened July 15 at 9 AM.

Investigators finished a post-mortem at the District Medical and Health Officer office. The infant’s body now sits in the Mendipathar Community Health Centre morgue. No family has come forward. The trail is cold.

Officers need the public to talk. They are looking for leads on any local women who showed signs of pregnancy or recent childbirth but no longer have their baby. "Every piece of information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could prove crucial in advancing this investigation," a police official stated.

Residents with information should call the Kharkutta Police Station. Every tip gets a look. Police want to close this case.
