Two Arrested After Dog Beaten to Death at Assam Market

Guwahati: Mankachar police arrested two men following the death of a dog at Kuchnimara Bazar. The animal died after witnesses saw it tied with a rope and beaten repeatedly in broad daylight on August 21. The brutal act was caught on camera. Those clips quickly spread across social media platforms.

Authorities identified the suspects as Ningjeng Marak, son of Nengian Sangma, and Jacky Ch. Marak, son of Gonjak Marak. Both men reside in South West Garo Hills, Meghalaya. Police filed Case No. 180/2026 to track the killing. Investigators currently seek to establish the exact circumstances regarding the incident. According to a local report, the "alleged killing" has sparked widespread concern.
