Shillong: Professor Jyoti J. Mozika will take the helm at National Law University, Meghalaya. She joins from the Department of Law at North Eastern Hill University. She steps into the role this August.

The university needed a new leader. The seat sat empty since February when founding Vice-Chancellor Indrajit Dube retired. Founding Registrar Kerpa Meida Lyngdoh Nongbri filled the gap as Acting Vice-Chancellor during the transition.

Mozika brings 27 years of experience in legal research and academic administration to the school. She holds a Ph.D. in Law from the University of North Bengal, where she finished her B.A. LL.B. and LL.M. programs as a gold medallist. Her career includes four separate terms as Head of the Department of Law at NEHU. She has also worked in various administrative roles at universities and professional bodies across the nation.

Her husband is Nitesh Mozika. He serves as a Senior Advocate at the High Court of Meghalaya and as the Deputy Solicitor General of India. Reflecting on her career, she remains deeply linked to the development of legal education in the Northeast.
