Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially become India's longest-serving elected prime minister, surpassing the continuous tenure record previously held by Jawaharlal Nehru. Marking 4,399 days across three consecutive terms, Modi hit this milestone on May 26 after completing 12 years in office.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma led the public recognition of the achievement, highlighting the Prime Minister's role in guiding the nation's development. Sarma praised the administration for driving significant reforms and creating new economic opportunities for the country.
Reflecting on the milestone in a social media post, Sarma wrote, "History remembers milestones. Nations remember the leaders who shape them. Congratulations to Adarniya Shri @narendramodi Ji on becoming India's longest-serving elected Prime Minister."
Sarma further described Modi as being synonymous with India's national progress over the last decade. He emphasized a collective commitment to the Prime Minister's vision of achieving a developed India by 2047, noting that the tenure remains a defining chapter in the country's modern political history.
