Nagaland University Hosts FIFA World Cup 2026 Live Screenings

Kohima: Nagaland University is bringing the FIFA World Cup 2026 to the Lumami campus. Students and staff gather at the University Auditorium to watch the action on a giant screen. The event welcomes all teaching and non-teaching staff, research scholars, students, and their families living on campus.

The Lumami Campus Sports Club organizes these screenings to build community bonds. The sessions will run through the entire tournament until the final match. The initiative has the backing of Vice-Chancellor Prof Jagadish Kumar Patnaik and Registrar Dr Abemo.

Club President Lanuzulu noted the screenings act as a lead-up to the LCSC Sports Meet 2026. He said, "The FIFA World Cup live screening serves as the kick-off event for the forthcoming LCSC Sports Meet 2026."

Organizers Akala, Hukheto, Medo, and Yanpo managed the setup. The club formed back in 2012 and hosts yearly sporting tournaments at the Lumami headquarters. Football fans now pack the auditorium for every game.
