Kohima: The Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee of Nagaland held its first 2026 meeting at Akashvani Kohima to finalize outreach strategies for the upcoming Census 2027. This committee, established by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, serves to align central and state departments to improve public communication and combat misinformation.
Dr. K. Miachieo, the Director of Census Operations for Nagaland, confirmed that the House Listing Operation is scheduled to take place from July 1 to July 30, 2026. Residents will also have access to a self-enumeration portal between June 16 and June 30. To support these efforts, officials have deployed over 6,100 enumerators and supervisors across the state.
The government plans to launch a diverse media campaign to inform the public, utilizing television, print, digital platforms, and radio. These broadcasts will be produced in English, Nagamese, and 15 local dialects to ensure broad accessibility. Regarding the outreach efforts, Dr. Miachieo stated that the committee is prioritizing a "coordinated, theme-based media strategy" to ensure the success of the exercise.
P. Sophie, the Head of Office at PIB Kohima, chaired the session and encouraged all stakeholders to maintain close cooperation with the PIB. The meeting included representatives from various organizations, including the Department of Information and Public Relations, Doordarshan, and the Central Bureau of Communication.
